why do i need you to submit documents like forms, photocopy ic/passport/business registration form?

• tm wants them.
• i need the information for registration.
• if registration not successful, i need to send the information for survey.
• if you delay in giving me the required information, your survey will be delay as i’ve no attachment to send out.

why need old ic?

• tm wants the old ic number if you were born before year 1978.
• if you can give your new ic number, what’s the problem of giving the old ic number?
• this is not for along but is there a problem?

is not that I want to be so mafan but i have to! otherwise no commission! if i don’t get paid, so do you [my agents]!

don’t always think of the easy way. sometimes i talk and talk but at the end he/she doesn’t want. i know sometimes is not easy to get people’s ic/passport/business registration because they have a right not to trust us.

i trust you to get documents for your sales so do it! don’t tell me you can’t get it or ask what for?

Module 4: Basic Wireless Connection Using Streamyx

Wireless Connection

There are 2 things that we need to set in a wireless router:

• SSID > [1] The name of your Wireless Local Area Network aka WLAN. [2] This is to enable PC to communicate with AP/Router. [3] Two or more SSID from different AP/Router detected by 1 PC may result in interference and failure connection.
• Wireless Network Security > [1] Security code that should be configure in laptop before able to connect to any AP. The code must be the same between AP and laptop.

SSID should be a name that is easy to remember. Wireless Network Security should not be too complicated otherwise you’ll forget it easily. It would be better if you combine CAPITAL LETTERS + small letters + number such as 12345, and etc….

Factors that influence wireless performance

What are the factors?

• Interference – Interference of cordless phone, microwave or other electronic devices that utilize same 2.4 GHz radio frequency. Also the interference between wireless networks that use the same channel will reduce the network throughput as well.
• Signal Blocking – Signal blocking by thick wall or other physical barriers especially at home.
• Shared bandwidth – The bandwidth of wireless network is shared among wireless users, so the more users you have on the same network the slower network speed.
• Distance – the further location from the wireless router/AP, the slower connection will be.

Ok… This is the last module that I’m typing here… So it took me 3 days? Anyway… no more modules after this.

Module 3: Restoration Process

Is restoration an easy task or what? What is needed to solve a problem?

• Modem + adaptor + ADSL splitter + RJ11 + RJ45
• Tools such as screwdriver, cutter, etc..
• NOC contact number

Not all complaints are made into report. When we call the Helpdesk to make a complain, we’ll need to press on the correct button on the phone to be directed to the right department. Once the Customer Service Representative got our complain, he/she will filter out our problems. If the problem can be solve on the phone, he/she will guide us [most of the time they annoyed me because they are reading according to their guidelines]. If problem can’t be solved, then only they will refer the problem to the respective department. And so the complain goes from 1 hand to another through email….

For us contractors, sometimes there are just too many numbers to call especially when we’re using own mobile to call these not toll free numbers. Not all customers will have a telephone set in the premise. Some just want the telephone line to use Streamyx, not for calling.

I’m still wondering why did we learn this in class when there wasn’t any question asked. ANOC is not the place where we simply call to configure speed. The last time I called, the abang told me, if I need to configure just 1 order, I need to call another number, they only configure bundle orders. But if other number not available after working hours, then can try calling here [from experience]. All these department changed and this was the old slide notes and we’re the last batch using it.. WTF!

Common Symptoms in Streamyx

These are the commons that people faced

• Cannot login > [1] It may be cause by wrong username and/or password; Error 691. [2] Session hang; Error 691. [3] If connected and you disconnected, take long time to reconnect; Error 678.
• Slow connectivity/browsing > [1] If you subscribed 1Mbps but your line rate is only 512kbps, of course slow lah. [2] Might be the servcer that you’re connected to having problem or slow.
• Intermittent/Frequent disconnection > [1] Parallels without ADSL splitter. [2] RJ11 spoilt due to rust, moss, or putus inside.

If you ask me, there can be more than 1 reasons to the above problems. I need to check before I can tell. Anyway, the above mentioned are my definitions based on what I normally see.

Cannot Login/Connection Failure

Common Errors and How to Troubleshoot

Only applicable when you’re using Bridge Mode or Dialer

• Error 691: Invalid Usernmae and/or Password > Check username and password. Make sure there are correct. It should be username@streamyx [PPOE] or username@tmnet [PPOA].
• Error 678: Remote Computer Not Respond > Due to connection between PC and Radius [Modem - Copper - DSLAM - ATM - BRAS - Radius]. Check DSL led and isolate.

• Error 796: Specific Destination Is Not Reachable > Mainly due to network card or connection between network card to modem.

For Windows Vista or Windows 7, you might see a different error code for Error 678.

Slow Browsing / Throughput

I’ve seen customers asking us to set the speed higher, much much higher than their subscription. Of course no way lah… If I set your line speed to 24000Mbps and you only subscribce to 1Mbps, you’ll frequent disconnection lah..

Intermittent / Frequent Disconnection
