Restoran Teak Kee

Yesterday we had dinner with my brother, mom, Jassmyn; my cousin from Australia and her maternal grandmother at Restoran Teak Kee. I think this Jass is the shortest among us, cousins. She’s our Uncle Kiah Wah’s daughter; he’s our mom’s 1 and only brother staying in Australia with his family.

This restaurant is located at 6-0-16, Block 6, Meadow Park, Jalan 1/130,
Taman Gembira, Off Jalan Kuchai Lama, 58200 Kuala Lumpur. It’s a corner shop.

You can call them at 03-7982 2319 for bookings. My advice. Be there early otherwise the place will be packed. It’s just a 2 unit restaurant. Food wise? Recommended. Even my brother said that’s the best place to eat around the area. We’ve been there for simple dinners as well as birthday dinners with our relatives. It’s always relatives dinner over there..

We had 4 plates of rice: Jass, him, popo and Keith. Mom had about 2 tablespoons of rice from popo. And me none. My brother did  add a small rice after that. I’m not a rice person so is ok if I don’t eat rice at all. Our tea of the night was Kuk Po and that was refillable. There was a plate of peanuts that I didn’t eat. Throat itchy lah… how to eat?

Don’t ever ask me the names of the dishes that we had because I can’t remember and since I didn’t take any picture so you’ve imagine. We had

  1. Winter Melon Soup > It wasn’t very big so it was ngam ngam ho for 6 adults. Other than the winter melon itself, got red dates, chicken feet and mom said got dried oyster. Very refreshing and lotsa winter melon flesh to eat.
  2. Lala > Lots of ginger and I hate that! Simple and nice. Quite big pieces of lala. I think I saw chili padi. The soupy liquid was yellow wine. Nice to drink but the ginger and chili padi made my tongue hot!
  3. Vegetable > It’s 1 type of vegetable that I mistaken it as leek + tauge. Stir fry with garlic. Very nice and mom said the leek liked vegetable is not a common vegetable that you can always buy from the market.
  4. Steam Pak So Gung > I love steam fish especially if you don’t over steam it. I had both sides of the pipi. Yummy! I had the remaining of the tail too. Yummy yummy! Pak So Gung is Catfish right? 1 of my favourites. I had to remove the ginger, parsley and spring onion because I could get the fish.
  5. Pork with Sliced Mantau > The portk is similar to Tong Po Yuk but it was called something like Lo Fu don’t know what.. Anyway, you take a piece of eat and you wrap it with the sliced mantau and eat. It sliced mantau instead of the whole mantau because the pork was not that big. Ngam ngam ho for 6 persons.

I’ve no idea how much was the dinner because the 2 of us still eating. Finishing up the balance ma..

KFC for VDay

He said go “guer pa” at Cowboy Delight but we ended up eating KFC. Read some reviews about the place; didn’t attract me a bit to go there. Visited their Facebook page and found some Valentine’s Day Sets that I think not worth the price. And bad presentation too.

We had take-away; Snack Plate each, spicy, and he added rice. Total was 23.45 [if I'm not wrong] and is so much cheaper than having Valentine’s Day Set for sure.. The most important is… we’re full! We ate our meal at his house, in front of the tv watching 2 Astro On Demand stories.

I’m not that stingy when it comes to food but make sure the food + price is reasonable + attracts my attention + at least average review + acceptable presentation. If the presentation is not acceptable by me, it will affect my mood of eating it or a visit. To me, presentation plays an important role in selling your food to me.

I don’t need you to over decorate your plate. Simple decoration will do but make it presentable. KFC may not have good presentation all the time but it worth the price I paid. Yesterday, our chicken pieces were quite big, the coleslaw was quite good because that’s 1 thing that I hate most from KFC; most of the time the cabbage is hard and not equally chopped. We bought KFC from KFC Serdang @ Jalan Besar.

That’s my VDay 2012. Just KFC. I guess fast food is the best option to avoid traffic jam, restaurant full, can’t think of what to cook / eat, singles, busy couples, etc…

Sometimes is all about timing. If timing is right, you’ll meet someone who’s romantic, gives you surprises on special days, hugs & kisses, remember all important dates, and etc… But if timing is not right, you’ll miss all the mentioned ones. So… Am I at the right timing?

I do wish have a proper celebration but time determine all. Right time right person is the best. Right time wrong person / wrong time right person is 50/50. Wrong time wrong person is the worst of all!

Every year’s VDay I wish for something special but everytime is dissappointment. Therefore I wish for none. It’s a special day for some but a not special day for me. No matter how and what I look forward to, I won’t get it. So why waste tme and energy for something that won’t happen? Sometimes I do wonder what’s the difference of me being married compared to singles on VDay.

On our way to buy KFC, we saw stalls along Jalan Besar selling flowers, teddy bears and other soft toys. To me, they are waste of money and the buyers can cause us non buyers traffic jam because of double / illegal parkings. I love soft toys but if you’re going to buy me 1 on VDay, no thank you lah… Most expensive than any normal days right? I don’t like flowers but if you’re really sincere to buy me at least 1 to surprise me, I’m thankful and happy but you gave me none.

I don’t get anything. I had to pay for our meal. No flowers. No chocolates. Not a thing. You don’t get anything from me either. You no give, I no give. Fair and square!
