I Blog, I Sell, I Service & I Help.

almost 3 hours

call ms law at 1015 [according to my phone's clock] and we left the premise [after paying the parking ticket] at about 1315. i was so hungry because i haven’t eat breakfast yet. and it was already lunch. so i had brunch again yesterday.

i took some pictures using my phone and i’ve got them here for sharing. i had to sacrifice some pictures, just to get more space for these new pictures. otherwise sure not enough space. anyway i’ve got not much here [only take picture at certain locations / situations].

this was the cables at the dp room [not sure if this is the right way of calling it]. the fiber cable came thru the hole above from the dp at level 3 [customer's office at level 2]. as you can see, there were other cables. if you are a fat man, don’t bother going into this room.

one of the unifi guys pulling and pushing the long cable up into the ceiling. the fiber cable is already inside the cable casing / rubber protector to protect the fragile fiber cable.

Note: i’m not sure is know as fiber cable or fibre cable.

it was a very long cable; measured from inside the office out to the dp room, which was located above the loading area. and that was really a long corridor.

this is what you see when you open the ceiling cover. pipes, holes and cables. if you are lucky, you can see cobwebs, ants, cockr0aches and spiders. and if you are much more luckier, then you can see rats [i'm not joking because as long as there are holes, there can be pests].

removing the blocking lights so that you don’t hit them when you are making space for the cable. and the lights are also hot and glaring [is that the right term?] and they are breakable…

extension cord, pail of tools, driller, pipe for cable transporting, ladder, the long cable ready to go thru the ceiling. and that was the little room that the guys went in.

inilah tempatnya cable kena jolok masuk. dia orang buka a few of these and pass the cable sampai masuk office customer. tak kan you nak letak cable kat lantai?

this is how they do the wiring/cabling up there..

ni lah cable panjang tu… dia  akan jolok balik kat dalam ceiling and sampaikan the dalam office that is located at the other end of the corridor. cable ni kena handle with care or else putus! [cable fiber kat dalam putus, not the out-layer cable/casing].

kalau fiber cable putus masa dia orang tarik, kenalah ukur and buat process yang sama sekali lagi..

they have to go up and down the laddles to get the long cable across the long corridor. they have to make sure nothing get stuck in between.

there were at least 3 persons doing this passing task.

this is the FTB = Fiber To Building that they lekat kat dinding. the fiber cable [black colour cable] was connected to this box. according to them any equipment in customer’s premise belongs to customer.

the black one is the fiber cable and the grey one is the outer layer for protection. there are ssome pictures that i didn’t take because it was at locations where the staffs are so tak maulah…

this is the fiber cable. pull open the black layer, you will see 2 colours: blue and yellow. then need to pull open the coloured ones to get the fiber glass into the FTB box. i’ve got clearer picture(s) in samsung omnia.

Note: all posted pictures were taken by nokia e5.

everything into the server room.

unifi installation in buildings might need a longer time than homes. they installers need to see the structure of the building, to check if there’s blockage and how to solve it, to check the signal readings and others.

you will be charged on the spot if cabling/wiring is more than the initial 15m for fiber cable and 30m for the casing. they will try to round up the figures for you. is either you take it or leav it. i don’t advice you to get contractor from outside to do the fiber cabling because they might charge more.

i heard they was installation that the customer paid over RM1000 because the dp was located at the 17th floor while the office was at the 1st floor. if you are not prepared or not willing to pay, then you might just leave it. even if you ask contractor to come to your premise for a telephone line wiring, you might get charge RM200 for just a short distance wiring.

but this case was slightly problem because the installers failed to tell customer how much would it cost for every 5m in length. i saw the charges per every 5m on 1 of the forms and there was a small diagram showing roughly how the whole cabling/wiring connected. i don’t think they show it to the customer. i saw the form when they were almost done with the job.
