Trish lives in Africa with her missionary parents. At school she’s the only white girl – a ‘white stranger’. Her friend Grace is far more confident than Trish, already a woman, and Trish longs to be like her. But when Grace invites Trish to visit her at home, she discovers just how much more grown-up than her Grace is, and just how different their lives are.
